The idea emerged in 2003 when Nadia Cristina Gomes and Fátima Bernardi got together to discuss an idea and maybe change their professional lives. Nadia is a biologist who’s been living in Floripa for over 15 years and Fátima works with Computer Science and had plans to move to Floripa on a permanent basis.
When they sat to talk about their idea they realized there was a shortage of nice places in the city where cool people could go to enjoy friends, family, have quality lager and taste gourmet specialties.

Having lived in other cities and traveled all over they were able to use their experience of bars, pubs and restaurants in Brazil and abroad to come up with an idea for Floripa. Based on what had worked in other places they decided on a couple of things, one of which was that the lager should be Brahma. The reason for that was that the best places in Brazil offering lager worked with this brand. With the support of the Floripa branch, Ambev, everything worked out.

As for the name, they first thought of “Confraria do Chopp” but there was already a place in Petropolis with that name so, taking into consideration that Floripa is an island, they thought “Confraria Chopp da Ilha” and the place is one of the most beautiful sites in Floripa: Conceição Lagoon.

Thus, the Confraria Chopp da Ilha was opened on March 21st, 2004 with sitting capacity for 70 people and an excellent service which rendered the place, from the start, as one of the hot spots in the city.

In Oct. 2005 the Confraria Chopp da Ilha moved forward taking a big step for its future, enlarging the place to be able to offer quality service to 140 sitting customers. In 2005, after taking part in an exclusive training program at Ambev, the Confraria Chopp da Ilha was certified as a member of the Royal Academy of Lager for serving excellent quality lager and follow the procedures meticulously.

In 2006, it took part in the program of the Ministry of Tourism, Abrasel and Sebrae “Round Table” to train our staff to offer quality service and to produce safe foods.

The search for continous improvement has been present in the Confraria Chopp da Ilha since its beginning and our aim is to provide our clients with the best option in the island so that they return!!!

Come visit and check it out!
